We have travelled to park foot camp site for a few nights. I loving horses found out that There was a park foot pony trekking centre at the top of the park. So I was treated for my birthday for a pony trek. I called the centre to book for the 26th of march i got asked if I had any experience riding , of course I said yes as I have owned many horses over my life so far. I was told that by the lady that she was able to squeeze me in at 11 for a 1 hour ride at £30 as it was just myself wanting to go for a ride. I was told on the phone to arrive at 1045 which I did. I got there to the gate being shut with a sign saying please do not enter the yard when gate is shut. I have the lady a call to make sure all okay, her response was oh yeah sorry come on in I've just got the horses in. I wondered on in I signed some forms sorted a hat out as I didn't bring my own as wasn't expecting to be riding on this holiday, she then groomed the two horses she had selected for us then tacked them up ect then off we went at around 11.20 We headed for the direction of the fells ( stunning views ). We took a slow stroll up to the top of the hill and turned around to take some photos of the beautiful views. We then started going back on ourselves which I thought was a little odd as it didn't take much time at all. We then walked backed down the hill and back into the yard ans arrived back at 12.04ish I helped to un tack the horse I was riding. The ride was defiantly not 1 hour long and I for sure will not be recommending to any of my experienced friends as £30 for a walk up a hill for under an hour is pretty steep in my books.
I have no problem with the lady I met or any of the horses and their living environment they are very well loved and looked after and the lady was lovely.
I would have not gone on this trek if I knew what was going to happen.
I really hate writing bad reviews but I hope people don't expect to much for nothing.

My wife and two sons, 15 and 11, had a one-hour trek today. The two ladies who run the Centre could not have been more welcoming or helpful. They took time to find out the riding experience of all seven riders on the trek and to find them suitable horses, making sure that both experienced and less confident riders were comfortably mounted before setting off. One of the ladies led the ride on foot with the youngest rider on a leading rein, and the other brought up the rear on her own horse. It took twenty minutes past the start time for everyone to be mounted, but after that they were out on the fellside for a full hour, and time was taken on their return for everyone to dismount safely. The trek itself went at (human) walking pace throughout, but that is just what we expected, and made for an enjoyable experience for everyone, with lovely views.
